Our Faith
As a community of faith missioned by the Roman Catholic Church, Damien Memorial School guides students from all walks of life in becoming responsible, respectful and community-minded citizens as they prepare for higher education and rewarding careers.
We adhere to the Essential Elements of an Edmund Rice Christian Brothers Education, including a pursuit of excellence in all matters. And we commit ourselves to lifelong, selfless service as personified by our school’s namesake, Saint Damien of Molokai.
Our motto is “Viriliter Age,” a Latin phrase meaning “Act Courageously.” Accordingly, we bravely follow the teachings of Jesus Christ in promoting Christian dignity and Catholic values among students, faculty, staff and parents.

Campus Ministry
Blessed Edmund Rice Essential Elements
In 19th Century Ireland, poverty-stricken young men lacked access to basic education and religious instruction. Blessed Edmund Rice responded to this need by establishing schools and founding the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1802. Today, the Edmund Rice School Network is an international consortium of Catholic schools operating in the United States, Canada and South America.
Saint Damien de Veuster
Our namesake at Damien Memorial School is Saint Damien De Veuster, the beloved Roman Catholic priest who devoted his life to caring for the most vulnerable of Hawaii’s population during the 19th Century.
Edmund Rice Christian Brothers North America
An Edmund Rice Christian Brother education provides Catholic and non-Catholic families a rigorous educational experience grounded in faith and service. Located in the United States and Canada, the schools educate children, young men, and young women in grades K-12.
Campus Ministry
The Campus Ministry is an important part of daily life at Damien Memorial School. Through retreats, community projects, liturgies and other activities, students explore their personal faith and give of themselves in service to others.
