A-Day Schedule Online
November 06, 2021
Good morning Damien ‘Ohana,
I have some very important news to share regarding school next week. Yesterday, during our second lunch period, we experienced a power outage. We naturally expected the power to restore quickly but when it didn’t we made a call to the usual electrician that we use for assistance. The electrician shared that the 60 year old main breaker for the campus power source is no longer functional and can not be repaired. Several replacements were tried, but were not adequate or safe for the campus power system. The correct breaker has been located, off island, and is being shipped. The earliest possible arrival date is Monday. Because it was so close to the end of the school day, we sent out communication to the campus as well as to our families regarding the immediate situation and the need to clear the campus as soon as possible. We also cancelled all athletic events, including practices, for the day/evening.
With the necessary work comes the effects on the physical campus. We have decided to keep the campus clear on both Monday and Tuesday and move school online via Blackboard. Students will login to Blackboard Collaborate to attend online classes. The two days will follow an A-day Online Schedule allowing teachers and students to “meet” with all of their classes.
All campus events and activities are also suspended as the campus will be completely shut down.
Our plan is to return to campus on Wednesday (C Day) and Friday (B Day) as Thursday is the Veteran’s Day holiday. As we know, plans don’t always go smoothly so if the work is not completed by Tuesday we will most likely have to remain online. We will communicate updates if and when it comes to that point so please make sure to check your email regularly for updates.
Thank you once again for your patience and understanding as we work through this situation. Our intention, as always, is to provide the best possible learning environment for our students.
Mahalo,
Dr. Atabay
Head of School
