A Tale of Two Damien Schools.

Students from Damien High School of La Verne, California are the first to visit Damien Memorial School campus.

For decades, Damien Memorial School and Damien High School of La Verne, California knew of each other.  As the Internet evolved, it was not uncommon for community members from each campus to stumble upon the website and social media of each other.   However, these campuses had never actually met in person – until now. 

Our schools quickly realized they had a lot in common, not only in name but also in their mission to provide quality education to their students.  As the pandemic came to an end, we discussed the possibility of having a joint football game in 2023 and soon uncovered that we had far more similarities than differences.  Their respective Presidents agreed to share best practices and decided to start a mutual partnership to further their schools.

Their common inspiration was St. Damien, who devoted his life to serving the poor and the sick in Hawaii. The schools decided to walk in his footsteps – together.  This band concert was just the beginning of a long-lasting partnership that would benefit both schools and their students for years to come.
