Exciting News
A huge congratulations to our talented 8th-grade students, Lea Marie Saturnino and Haylo Daniels, for their outstanding achievements in the 15th Annual Clarence T.C. Ching "Inspired in Hawaii" Contest! Lea Marie earned 3rd place, and Haylo secured an impressive 2nd place—a remarkable accomplishment!

Each year, Mrs. Gayle Pai, Damien Memorial School’s dedicated 8th-grade English and History teacher, encourages her students to take part in this prestigious contest. This year’s theme, "Mālama Hawai‘i’s Environment," challenged students to honor the legacy of Clarence T.C. Ching by creatively showcasing ways to care for Hawai‘i’s environment through essays, posters, digital art, or videos.
🔹 Lea Marie Saturnino’s essay, "Lessening My Carbon Footprint," earned her $100 and a well-deserved spot among the winners!
🔹 Haylo Daniels’ essay, "Cleaning Up Waikīkī," took 2nd place, securing a $150 prize!
🔹 As an added bonus, Mrs. Pai also received $100 in recognition of her guidance and support throughout the contest process.
We are incredibly proud of these students for their creativity, hard work, and commitment to making a positive impact on our community. Way to go, Lea Marie and Haylo! 👏🎉
